Haven’t Tried Dancing Yet? Try It With Other People!

A lot of people are terrified by the idea of starting something new. Too many unknowns, right? While there are plenty of reasons your fears can be laid to rest (click here to see what you can expect from your dance lessons), there are other options available to you to help you dabble your feet in the waters of ballroom dance. Here are four to consider.

Ways to Try Ballroom Dance With a Group

1. Team-Building Activity

  • Nothing brings a team together like dance. Whether you schedule it at your place of work or in the ballroom studio, dance gets rid of those awkward jitters that seem to plague people at these types of events. And what could be better than great exercise as you move and groove to some awesome music?!

2. Couples’ Night Out

  • Know another couple who’d be interested in taking lessons? Perhaps some neighbors who are always a bunch of fun? Bring them along! I knew a couple who’d been friends with old neighbors for 30 years and, to make sure they spent time together, would take a four-person private lesson each week. They’d grab dinner before their lesson and go out for drinks afterward. It was a night on the town and they loved it! So will you!

3. Pre-Wedding Party

  • Having partaken in these a time or two, I can tell you they’re a blast! You go into it nervous about not knowing any dance steps, and by the end of it you feel really good, having smiled and laughed the whole time. You also have something in common with everyone there, which acts as a great springboard for future chats. As an added perk, you get to see the bride and groom having a blast together!

4. Employee Perk

  • Bring a few coworkers along to your lesson. Not only will they have fun, you’ll get to know some others at work, and ballroom dance may even be discounted as part of your company’s gym program. If it’s not outlined, ask! I knew a few students who took lessons for years as a result.

There are many options available for you to dance with other people. Hosting a tea party? Add a waltz mixer. Is it country 2-step night at the local bar? Why not schedule a lesson with friends to learn a step or two beforehand? Want a cool birthday celebration? Add dancing!

With a variety of possibilities to choose from, it’s easy for you to get movin’ and groovin’. Want to know of other options? Give your local studio a call. You’ll be glad you did!
